December Box Of Dread Review

Ever since I have received my previous Box of Dread, I've been counting down the days till my next box to arrive at my door. I was satisfied with the horror goodies and surprises that came in last month's box and decided to keep up my subscription. This month's box arrived just before Christmas Eve, it would seem Sandy Claws left an early present on my doorstep. I couldn't wait to see what dreadful things were lurking inside.

If you are unfamiliar with Box Of Dread, here's some quick details about the service:
- Monthly subscription box for horror lovers.
- Two plans are available: $20 for one month and $57 for three months.
- One lucky horror fan will be chosen each month for the 7th Box filled with more horror goodies than a regular Box of Dread.
- They don't ship internationally...yet.

You can check out my review on the November Box of Dread here.

December's Box Of Dread:

The first item that grabbed my attention right away was the Funko Nightmare Before Christmas Mystery Mini figure, very fitting for this month's box. In the previous box I had received a Funko Walking Dead Mystery Mini, so it was awesome to see Box of Dread put other horror related Funko figures included in the box. I just actually started collecting these Nightmare Before Christmas figures recently, it's become my new obsession. So I was thrilled to receive one. This series includes Jack Skellington, Oogie Boogie, Sally and other rememberable characters from the film.

Here's my collection so far:

I noticed the mystery mini I received felt heavier that the other boxes that I have purchased before. Could this be the rare Jack Skellington as Sandy Claws? Ah the suspense!

Sadly no, not this time but it was one I haven't received yet! I'm happy I got Sally, these figures are so cute!

You can find them here: http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/PopCulture/Movies/Disney/The+Nightmare+Before+Christmas+Mystery+Minis+Blind+Box+Figure-10073907.jsp

The next item was also another Funko Mystery Mini. These minis are based on classic horror icons you know and love, like Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Leatherface, etc. This was another item I was thrilled about. I have been literally searching for these figures everywhere, but have had no luck finding them. I checked my local Barnes & Noble, Hot Topic, etc. I guess I could of bought them online, but finding them in stores is way more fun.

So which horror icon was in the box? Jason!

ki...ki...ki...ma...ma...ma...

You can find them here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FUPIP1Q/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_ZW7Wsb07NJJ976VA

The third item was a bag of skulls. You can never have enough skulls! These mini skulls will be very useful for next Halloween. Perhaps they will be included in some of the goodie bags for trick or treaters.

The last item was a holiday treat, a candy cane!

Overall, this is my favorite Box of Dread so far. It seems Sandy Claws knew what I wanted this year with the Funko mystery figures. I loved the figures found in the box and hope to see more Funko items in future boxes. The mini skulls and candy cane were a nice addition as well. Definitely going to use those skulls for next Halloween. I was a tad jealous to find out that other Box of Dread subscribers received horror themed pillows from Horror Decor, though I'm very satisfied with the items I got in December's box. I will still continue being a subscriber to Box of Dread, I really enjoy this subscription box and the Halloween fix it gives me each month. And can't wait to see it grow and what new horror items they will include in the upcoming months. As I stated in my last review, I hope there were be more movie promo items or exclusive items you can't find anywhere else. Looking forward to what the Box of Dread has in store for 2014!

Also here's a photo of the horror items found in December's 7th Box, if your curious. Congrats to Box of Dread subscriber Lisa Canada!

November Box Of Dread Review

Time to catch up on my reviews, these months are just flying by! The first review I have on my list is my Box Of Dread I received back in November.

If you have never heard of Box Of Dread, it's a monthly subscription box filled with a variety of horror themed swag presented by Dread Central. There are two plans available to choose from. The first plan is a 1 month plan for $20 and the second is a 3 month plan for $57. Among the boxes of dread, there is one special box called the 7th box. This 7th box a horror lover's dream filled with more horror goodies then the regular Box of Dread. Some of the past items that have been included in this special box are a Annabelle doll promo from The Conjuring, the second season of American Horror Story, and the first season of Bates Motel.

Now let's see what dreadful things came in this month's box!

The first thing that stood out to me was the poster from Horror Decor. The poster is the Floating Heads print by Christopher Lovell. It's 11" x 17", if you're curious. It was rolled up nicely in the box, so it came in great condition, no tears or creases. The print is high quality, definitely need to get this print framed.

If you are interested in the print, you can find it here: http://horrordecor.net/collections/floatingheads/products/floating-heads-print

To be honest I've never heard of this company before. After checking out their website, I have to say they have a lot horror goodness. From pillows with the Overlook Hotel design from The Shining to nightmarish ornaments to put on your tree. They even have the Floating Heads print design on a pillow. Too cool! May need to make some future purchases from there.

Along with the print, they included a pen and a magnet from the Horror Decor website. It was a nice addition.

The next item was one Walking Dead Blind Box Mystery Mini. This is first series in the collection, this series includes a selection of walkers and the Dixon brothers from AMC tv series. There are also rare figures to be on the look out for like glow in the dark walkers and blood spattered Daryl and Merle. Let's see what lies inside this mystery box...(insert drum roll here)

It's a walker! Eh not to crazy about the vinyl figure I got but it was fun opening the box.

You can find the Walking Dead Blind Box Mystery Minis here: http://www.thinkgeek.com/product/1348/
And here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E0QYOWU/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_w2wOsb1YDX8F6796

"Hi, I'm Chucky. Wanna play?"

The next items were 4 Good Guy doll battery stickers. These stickers where an exclusive for this month's Box of Dread. It appears if you get the right kind of battery, you can wrap them around the battery and create your own Good Guy Doll battery brand. Hi-de-ho, ha ha ha!

The last item in the box was a H. P. Lovecraft mousepad from Rotten Cotton . The mousepad could have been another exclusive to Box of Dread as well, I couldn't find it on their website. The design of the mousepad is pretty cool! I needed a new mousepad, how did they know...

Overall, I really enjoyed this month's Box of Dread. My favorites among horror goodies were the Good Guy doll stickers and the Floating Heads print. I'm not going to get into detail about the cost of each item or if the amount of the items matched up to the price of the box. Part of the fun of these subscription boxes is the surprise on what items you get in the box. Though I liked more items then others, I'm satisfied with everything that came in this month's box. From what I have seen on their official Facebook page, certain horror fans have received different assortment of items in their box. So you may not get the same items as someone else gets. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a Halloween/Horror fix in their life. I'm hoping there will be more movie promos/exclusives added to the box in the future. It would also be neat to see themed boxes as well. Can't wait to see what they have in store for December's box!

Spider Prank App Review

Recently, Sebastian Conley from Sebastian's Games gave me the opportunity to try out his new Spider Prank app. This app was filled with creepy crawlies, it's an arachnophobic's worst nightmare! The app gives you your own realistic looking spider and fly to crawl around the surface of your iPhone/iPad screen, ready for pranking. This app is also compatible with iPhone 5, iPhone 4/4S, and iPad. If your looking for the perfect Halloween scare, then you should definitely check out the Spider Prank app from Sebastian's Games this Halloween season!

Check out the trailer to learn more:

The Spider Prank is a great app to scare your spider fearing friends. The app gives your own spider at your control (insert evil laughter here). You can drag the spider around on the screen, it reacts to gravity, and comes with a timer to plan out your prank on your arachnophobic friends. It's Halloween time after all, it's fun getting scare here and there, right?

After downloading the app on my iphone, I had to try it out on a few unexpected friends. It worked great! I had a lot of fun testing it out and even freaked myself out in the process. I just get creeped out watching it, the noises this life like spider makes are just plain eerie. I also really enjoyed how the app was very easy and simple to use. It's a clever little app and is frightfully spooky to use during this Halloween season.

Update: Two new species have been added to the Spider Prank App, a black widow and a tarantula!
